The above graphic is a "mid-season" report card on the Hurricane Alley.net initial 2001 Seasonal Forecast for landfall.  Click on the graphic to enlarge and you will see that so far this season our forecast for landfalls has been relatively accurate once again. We did not foresee the Louisiana coast , the Haitian southwest coast , or the east coast of Puerto Rico as having anything more than a normal threat for landfall.  On the other hand , we have accurately forecast the Mexican Gulf coast , the eastern Yucatan Peninsula , the southern Texas coast , the northern Leewards , the Bahamas , North Carolina , and the Northeast as having moderate to high risk of landfall.  Not too bad for a forecast issued the 1st of June.  We believe that the latter half of the season will see formation in the northwest Caribbean , and as a result , still expect that the southern 3rd of the Florida peninsula , and western Cuba will be impacted.
